THE POWER TO FACE
How to Tolerate
My spiritual thoughts from teachings of the late Dadi Janki and her Divine Teacher.
To face anger in life, it is better not to fight as this fuels negativity and puts us into the defensive mode right away. To strike, we must have the ability to shield and the thought to shield comes afterwards, too late when anger is fuelled in retaliation. To face anger, then anger reflected to the perpetrator leads to battle and prolongs the force of anger. In terms of war, it could last for decades. The first power of the soul to use is to tolerate and the second is to transform. If something bad is done or must be faced, the will to transform from a place of tolerance means to return with goodness. This reverses the power structure immediately. To transform any situation, three qualities are needed:
1. The power to stabilize instantly, within seconds, calling upon our reserves of peace accumulated from past silence, meditations, nature, music, kindness, absorption in happy moments. It is all down to remembrance of the true religion of the soul: the right to peace and contentment. Learn to experience and collect peace so that it may be called upon at any time. This helps to detach from the drama and stay calm. It takes practice every day, and the ability to think that every situation is here to teach us.
2. The power to discriminate instantly and make quick decisions. This keeps the ongoing troubles short-lived. Speech cannot be incendiary but used with willingness to overcome grievances by mediation and how to accommodate everything in a fair manner, willing to listen and connect. It takes all the senses to be on alert:
The language of eyes: Vision with kindness, not rage or pity.
The language of thought: Serene and elevated, not attaching to sorrow.
The language of speech: Quiet, possible distraction with a question. This creates a pause to think of an answer or to begin a more normal discourse. No shouting or sighing, accusing, or beginning a sentence with ‘you’. No pointing out of faults of which there is awareness already.
The language of listening: Caring.
Attitude: Detached but loving. No pointing.
Be the one who solves problems not the one who causes them. There is always a solution to every problem and what seems an obstacle or huge barrier to someone can be dissolved and overcome by decreasing its size and not giving it growing room. Have casual indifference to the negative by increasing the positive side or helping one see something good that can come out of any situation.
3. The Power to Face any situation is the knowledge of the light of the soul. Just a tiny candlelight is enough to keep away the wild beast. The more experience of increasing that light within us and joining it with divine light creates a lighthouse. The experience of that magnetic soul light and inner deep silence is recognized by other souls at soul-level rather than a corporeal level and they are attracted to something that is elevated and far reaching, something beyond the material existence. It illuminates the shadows, gives hope, and takes away sorrow. The physical flickering light of a warm fire soothes and calms the mind. In the same way, a special radiance of a peaceful soul can also elevate others and eliminate sorrow to create happiness. In the power of a gathering of such souls, it is even greater. It is not just for yogis, saints, and shamans but is accessible to everyone, in existence, no matter who they are, from the smallest child to the aged sage, beyond colour, cast or creed. Every soul has the right to it, bad or good, defamed or praised, meek or strong, sick, or well. All species and everything in nature recognizes it. This power combined with divinity, once gained, can never be destroyed. It is never too late to begin to find it and those who start last, especially at this time, can be fastest, because of the way laid down by those before. It is exhilarating to explore our own powers in this way, just by experiencing meditative silence, and thoughts from an elevated intelligence have more speed than anything on the planet and we can do great things with good thoughts even quicker than our actions that rely on physical travel. Controlling our own thoughts helps us to rule our lives and gives us the Power to Face anything.

Wonderful as ever. I Think I have been angry on some deep level for so long I can’t recognise it. But I know striking out at others is pointless. We have to save our energies for better, sweeter things. Thank you for a timely reminder Dwina.
I love this. It will be a valuable thing for me, who can easily struggle with anger and feelings of incompetence. I know this power is within me and I also know I have been guided to you for a reason. Thank you for this powerful lesson.
